Hadley inherited many of the same looks as her sisters. She has long, naturally wavy blond hair, though she tends to straighten it or at least use a flat iron or curling iron to tame the waves. Her eyes are blue, and are one of her favorite features. She does her best to play them up with makeup whenever she can. The girl is average height and slim, her figure boasting toned muscles from years of running and regular exercise. Her ex-fiance often pointed out her slight curves, suggesting that she have surgery to amend them. She has no tattoos, and has only one hole in each ear, however she does have a slim and jagged scar on her right wrist where a compound fracture forced the bone of her arm through her skin. The scar is still pink, as it was a somewhat recent injury. She also has a couple of small, round scars from cigarette burns on her left hip... Her ex-fiance thought it would be amusing to experiment with pain in the bedroom.[/blockquote]

INTELLIGENT Hadley is a very smart young woman. She has a degree in biology on the pre-med track, and she really wanted to be a doctor. However, her ex-fiance has done quite a number on her self-esteem, and she generally doesn't think of herself as a terribly intelligent person. Never the less, she's good at math and science, knows a lot of big words, is quick on her feet, and always comes across as though she knows what she is talking about because she usually does. Unfortunately, her intelligence does not extend to intuition with regards to judging people's character.
CARING She has always been the nurturing sort and loved being the oldest sibling. This position in the family allowed her to step into sort of a pseudo-parenting role with her siblings from time to time. She hasn't seen her family in quite a while, but she still finds that they are her primary concern, and she would not hesitate to put herself in harm's way to ensure their safety. Truthfully, she has few friends at this point because she has been cut off from most social interaction, but were she to become close with someone, she would likely treat them the same way.
INDEPENENT Of course, this doesn't necessarily apply to her financial situation. Her ex kept her from working, and the only reason she has been able to make it this far is by pawning her engagement ring and carefully managing the money. In other aspects of her life, though, she is quite independent, and she rarely allows herself to become emotionally dependent on another person.
ATHLETIC Running is one of Hadley's favorite pastimes. In high school, she was on the track team, and she spent many afternoons at the gym. In college, she still spent time at the gym, but she dropped out of track when people started noticing the odd bruising on her legs and arms and asking too many questions. She still starts every day with a run and has difficulty standing still.
WOUNDED This is, perhaps, the most important part of her personality at the moment. No one is born damaged, but once they become so, the experience can have a substantial impact on them. Where she was once bubbly, bright, and flirtatious, she has become quiet, withdrawn, and somewhat shy. When Hadley flirts, it is usually quite by accident, and she spends a great deal of time considering anything she wants to say or do in order to predict the way that others may react to it. She is currently friendless, and she has a great deal of difficulty trusting others. She also experiences flashbacks and nightmares about the years she spent being abused and is often in a state of anxiety.

As the first child of Rose and Aiden Fairchild, Hadley got to experience a few more years with their parents than her sisters. She was likely the only one of them who realized that their parents were married more for convenience than because they actually loved one another. Her mother was pretty, easy to talk to, and engaged in a profession that left her enough time off to make her a good match for someone who attended business meetings and ritzy dinners. Her father made enough money to ensure that the family has a cushy enough life to keep them mostly happy. Children were Rose's dream, not Aiden's, but he supposed it was his duty to help her out in that manner. After all, his occupation kept him away much of the time, and children would be able to keep her company.[/blockquote]
With their father gone and their mother busy with her job much of the time (no one ever accused teachers of having it easy... how many other jobs really have homework?), the girls grew up with a great deal of freedom. Hadley might have chosen to use it poorly were she not aware of the fact that she was expected to set an example for her younger sisters. Instead, she devoted herself to her school work, graduating as salutatorian of her senior class and earning a scholarship to the pre-med program at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. She was equal parts excited and terrified to leave her family.
During her junior year of college, Hadley met Phillip. He was gorgeous, attentive, and incredibly charming. Her friends were all jealous when the two began dating. It didn't take long for those friends to fade into the background, though, and Hadley soon began spending most of her free time with Phillip. By the time summer rolled around, he had convinced her to spend the vacation with him, and so began her exclusion from her family and friends.
It was only by the grace of God that she managed to graduate with honors, though Hadley shocked everyone by deciding not to continue with her original plan to attend medical school. Instead, she moved to a small town in Wyoming with Phillip, who had proposed to her at graduation. Within months, things took a downward spin. Phillip began to become controlling, insisting that Hadley could not work, could not return to school, could not make any new friends, and could only speak with her family on his terms. Phillip, on the other hand, took to drinking and spent much of his free time at bars or with other women. When he was at home, he was often bitter and angry. By the end of their first year as an engaged couple, he had taken to using her as a punching bag.
By her twenty-fourth birthday, the staff at the ER knew Hadley on a first name basis. They had also picked up on the unusual number of absurd accidents she seemed to be reporting. On a couple of occasions, they tried to convince her to seek help or to leave Phillip, but they were largely unsuccessful. She had finally made up her mind to at least contact the local battered' women's shelter when she learned that she was pregnant. Elated, Hadley resolved that this baby would be the solution to all of the problems that she and Phillip had faced, and she couldn't wait to tell him. Phillip, however, was not nearly as thrilled with the news as she had hoped, and he left the house immediately. Several hours later, he returned, reeking of alcohol and seething with rage. He resolved to beat her until the little "accident" was no longer a concern. If he killed Hadley in the process, so be it.
Four days later, Hadley woke up in the hospital with little memory of how she got there. Her attending physician confirmed that Phillip had, indeed, succeeded in causing her to miscarry. He had also succeeded in bruising her ribs and dislocating one of her arms. This time, she believed the therapist who told her that Phillip would probably kill her if she stayed with him. She'd figured that out on her own by this point, anyway. From what they told her, he had been arrested, but it wasn't likely that they would be able to keep him. The moment they agreed to let her leave the hospital, Hadley left the town. She had nothing save for the clothes on her back, which were mercifully clean because Phillip had hoped not to draw attention to the abuse, and her purse.
After pawning her engagement ring, which was sizeable and yielded enough money to pay cash for a few bus tickets with a bit left over, Hadley made her way out of Wyoming. It took her a couple of weeks to formulate a plan. Eventually, she decided to seek shelter at a resort in Aspen. It made sense, really. The resort was largely visited by the rich and famous, and boasted a strong security system. She could probably be safe there. After using a pay phone to call her sisters and let them know that she was safe, but she didn't want to be found, she set about finding an appropriate resort.
