Another shift has drawn to a close for the day. Gillian was wiping down the bar with her trusty bar rag, as the last remaining customer was still trying to hit on her. "What you doing after you're done here? I bet I can..s-show you a good t-time..I d-don't bite." he said, stumbling over some of his words. His breath reeked of the whiskey he had been drinking. He's at least tipsy at this point, maybe bordering on wasted. She chuckled a little. "I think it's time to say good night, good sir. Sleep it off, alright?" Gilly responded, keeping her tone friendly, as she finished up with the wiping of the bar. You never know when the wrong tone, even the slightest bit in your voice, could set a drunk person off the deep end and things could get dangerous right quick. He threw back his head and laughed. She shook her head a bit. "Alright, sweetheart. You have a..g-good night n-now, ok?" he answered, as he turned and headed towards the bar entrance. Stumbling a bit, along the way. She let out a chuckle, while she turned her full attention to the remaining glasses that needed to be dried and put away for the night. She moved and turned on her Ipod dock and music filled the empty bar. As soon as it filled the room and her ears, Gilly couldn't help but to start dancing as she did her work. The man's last question had made her wonder, what was she going to do after she's done at the bar? Gilly usually didn't do much, just went home and ended up falling asleep in front of the TV. The more she thought about doing that again, the more she wanted to go and be doing something else. A face drifted into her head. A brown mop of hair, a friendly and occasionally charming smile. Gillian smiled at the thought of him. Jack, she thought. He was one of the first few people that welcomed her, when she started working here. They hit it off in the beginning, their friendship evolving into something more for some time. Then, things didn't feel as right as it did, when they first met. So, after a bit of discussion and talking things through one night, they decided to be friends again. No hard feelings for either party, which is good. Come to think of it, I haven't seen Jack in a little while, she mused as she finished up with all of the martini glasses. A few pint glasses remained. Gillian's smile grew bigger, deciding on what she wanted to do. Time to drop by Jack's room for a little visit. As soon as she got the last glasses dried and put away, Gillian turned off her music and took her Ipod. She closed everything up and took off to the first-floor rooms. Once she found his room, she reached up and knocked a few times. Not too loud, not too quiet. Then, time to play the waiting game until he opened the door. Click here for her work attire. OOC: Hope this works!

Jack hadn't been doing much that evening. He'd had the early shift, took a nap and was now lounging around in front of the TV, missing Hadley. Sure, he was glad that she had a real place and all, but he wasn't sure why she didn't seem to be reconnecting with him. Busy maybe? In any case, when there was a knock at his door, he couldn't help but hope it was her.
Jack popped off his couch, tugging on sweatpants-- because whoever was at the door didn't need to see him in his boxers. And he looked through the peephole. It was Gilly. They'd dated for a short time when she first got here and decided that they made better friends than they did lovers. Jack liked being on good terms with her, they hadn't been serious enough for their fling to really get in the way of anything. But he had to admit, he wished it had been Hadley.
Jack pulled open the door with a smile. "Hey Gilly," He said. She looked good, even in their ridiculous 'uniform'. He stepped out of the door way to let her in. "Everything okay?" He asked. It was late, but she'd obviously just gotten off a shift, but even so.

A couple of moments of waiting seemed to feel longer than they actually were. When Jack finally opened up the door and smiled at her, Gillian couldn't help but to smile back. A moment had passed by. "Hey Gilly,"
"Hey, Jack." she replied, as he stepped out of the doorway. She stepped inside and her eyes wandered around, looking at the room. Things haven't changed much, since she stopped by the last time. She wasn't surprised by that fact, she didn't expect to see a change in decor or anything along those lines. "Everything okay?" She turned back to look at him and slightly raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, everything's fine. Just figured that since I haven't seen you in a little while, I would stop by and visit." she responded with a half-smile, as she wandered toward the couch. After being on her feet during her shift, it looked very inviting to her.
The next thing she knew, she plopped herself onto the couch. A soft sigh slipped past her lips. She looked back at Jack. "So, what's new with you?" she asked him, curious to know what he has been up to...besides working behind the concierge desk. She sat and waited for his response, as a brief silence fell.

Gilly walked by him and plopped onto the couch. Jack padded after her and sat down too. He had on the news, which was far from thrilling but one of few ways he got his information. He didn't really have time to read or check online while he was working. Besides, Jeopardy was on next.
Gilly didn't seem to have much to say, just stopped by, and he debated asking her to come by another time. he was sort of tired and enjoying worrying over Hadley. Of course, he could hardly admit to taking in a homeless girl, who he had since invited to the holiday party after she got a job and a roommate, who was thankfully gay.
Jack just shrugged lightly. "Not too much," He lied. "Mostly working, you know how it is around here." Beside that, he lived here, so if they ever needed someone extra, he was generally close at hand. He had been thinking about moving out, cashing the money instead of having it go to his room here but he wasn't sure yet. he didn't exactly have that many options here other than work. He'd only come here to see his brother anyway before he went overseas.
"How's bar tending treating you?" He asked her lightly, figuring the best way not to talk about him was to talk about her.

Jack had sat down by her on the couch. Gillian noticed his light shrugging of the shoulders before answering her question. "Not too much," She slightly raised her eyebrow, but allowed him to continue talking. "Mostly working, you know how it is around here." She nodded her head, couldn't agree more with that statement. It has been a roller-coaster, off and on, but no job's a nice walk in the park. "Indeed." she responded in agreement.
"How's bar tending treating you?" She couldn't help but to chuckle at first. "It's been interesting, to say the least. Mixing drinks has been smooth for the most part and the customers..well, they're a varied bunch as per usual. Especially tonight. Had a guy hitting on me the whole night, even stayed til closing. He wasn't like some of the other guys who have tried their luck. You know, the creepers who do not take no for an answer? Yeah, he was one of the nice ones. Thank goodness." she answered truthfully, leaning back on the couch until she was practically slumped in it.
She looked over at her friend. He's still one of the nicest guys in the place, not letting their past status affect their friendship. Not at all, which was nice. She didn't want to lose Jack as a friend of hers. "How's the concierge desk treating you, Jack? Anybody drive you up the wall yet?" she asked him, since it was only fair that he asked her first about that bar tending. A little, brief silence fell in between the two of them, as she waited for him to respond.

Jack chuckled and nodded lightly. He could remember a time when he'd be very bothered by someone hitting on her--not that anyone ever did in front of him when he was her boyfriend or otherwise. Jack was nearly 7ft tall, people didn't bother him much in that way. In any case, friend or not, he ignited he could offer to protect her if she needed it. "Lemme know if I can chase away any creeps for you." He said. Jack had been a bartender one summer, the flirting was part of the job but sometimes it was brutal.
At the mention of the front desk, Jack shrugged lightly. "Sometimes it's funny when the rich clients or famous ones think so highly of themselves that they think I should move at hyper speed, sometimes it's just annoying. " jack said. Te best part was the mix of people, the chance to talk and greet but not have to deal with all the time. Guests were a pain in excess, even the nice ones.
Ooc- sorry for the short/lame post. On my phone

Gillian hadn't heard Jack's chuckle in a while, so when let a chuckle slip past his lips, she couldn't help but to crack a smile. She didn't mind telling him about the guy from tonight, even though the two of them weren't together anymore in the romantic sense. Miss Gillian had enjoyed his company while it lasted, he was kind and a gentleman to boot, but they figured out before things got way too serious that they were better off as friends. After she finished with her answer, Jack spoke. "Lemme know if I can chase away any creeps for you." She nodded, as she made a mental note to keep that in mind.
"I'll be sure to remember that." she replied. When she had asked about his job as concierge, he gave her a shrug before he responded. "Sometimes it's funny when the rich clients or famous ones think so highly of themselves that they think I should move at hyper speed, sometimes it's just annoying. "
Gillian nodded her head, knowing what he meant. "Agreed. I get those kind of people at the bar, too. They want their drinks done absolutely perfect or some other ridiculous need, like they need ice from some other place..drives me nuts sometimes." she answered with a chuckle. The guests here who visit the bar are a mixed bunch, to say the least. There were nice ones, who always give her a nice-sized tip and polite as hell. Then, there's the kind that flip off the handle over the littlest things like..they need you to pay all of your attention to them in case they need something. Annoying things like that..

Jack chuckled and shrugged. Rich people could be a pain, but anyone could be. f course, there were more entitled among the rich, and the cliental base at the resort was very well to do. Some were nice families that were probably new money, unsure of how to act and be. Some grew up with money, the world at their fingertips. Some had a couple million and still bought old cars to spend money on nice vacations, some owned parts of Europe. Some just got paid a lot to sing or dance or play a sport. It was hard to tell who was what, but Jack was getting better at guessing.
Jack stifled a yawn behind his hand before running his fingers through his hair. It was getting late, but he didn't mind catching up with her either. He couldn't help but be distracted though by thoughts of Hadley, and that Ken guy she was living with... In any case, it made him very boring company. He racked his brain for what to say before figuring he could give a status update on his family. "Well, Dallas is doing well, away from the direct combat which is good." He said, speaking of his Marine brother who had been stationed here before he'd been deployed overseas.

For someone that usually doesn't do a lot of talking, Miss Gillian's sure doing a lot of it tonight. Jack didn't really talk a whole lot, when they were first getting to know each other. Gilly didn't mind it at first, since she has been wanting to move out of her comfort zone and talk more. But tonight, however, she didn't want to be the only one talking. When he said there wasn't much going on that was new in his life, a part of her didn't seem to buy into it. That part was quiet, up until now. It reminded her of it, as the silence briefly settled in between them. Something must be going on, things just can't be work and then..nothing, she had mused. As Jack ran his fingers through his hair, Gillian felt a yawn coming on, but she managed to stifle it. From what she saw, she wasn't the only one.
Then, he spoke up about his brother who happened to be in the Marines. She cracked a smile. "Well, Dallas is doing well, away from the direct combat which is good." A moment came and went. Gillian had remembered Jack talking about his brother from time to time, which was pretty nice to hear. She never had a brother of her own, it has always been her and her big sister. She loved her sister, don't get her wrong, but it would've been nice to have a brother too. "Well, that's really good to hear. He's doing what he loves, right?" Gillian responded. A few more moments passed on by.
"Rebecca's doing well, too. Still teaching children how to sing and what not, while I help from time to time. She's engaged as well." she then added with a smile. Rebecca seems to be so happy with Victor and he treats her well. Which is good, since he wouldn't be around if he didn't, she thought to herself. He understood her reasoning, when she questioned him about his motives and what not. He had done the same thing with his two sisters and their significant others. From then on, they get along well and are friends to boot.

Jack nodded, "Right." Dallas was doing what he cared about, something that made a difference. Jack wished he could say the same, all he was doing was checking rich snobs into their rooms. He'd thought of being a novelist once, an unfinished manuscript tucked at the bottom of his word documents on his computer. He'd thought about teaching literature, a though which appealed to him more and more in recent months. Maybe he could do both?
He smiled at the news about her sister. He wished he could see his brother in another way besides over a crackly Skype feed every once in a while. He was sidetracked by the engagement and smiled, "Oh, tell her congratulations," Jack insisted. He'd never met Rebecca, but weddings were generally happy occasions. "Who's the lucky guy? What do you think about him?" Jack asked her, gently rolling his head to one side to stretch it. His body got sore from standing at that desk all day on the computer. He wondered if Dallas would ever get married. He might but only once he couldn't serve anymore, Jack figured he'd hate to leave a family behind... of course, he was leaving Jack behind...
That used to be so hard for Jack, tore a rift in their relationship. It had since been mended, but Jack felt very strongly about leaving people who you cared about. Maybe that was why he was so attached to Hadley. He didn't want to leave her behind.

Gillian didn't have to be able to read minds, to figure that Jack cared about his brother Dallas. She never met him, but heard about him. Kinda wished that she did get to meet him, but maybe she would have if they stayed together and what not. Either way, that's all in the past, of course. Nothing that Gillian could really do about it now. Jack had smiled, when Gillian talked about her sister Rebecca. He didn't get to meet her while they were dating, though wandering around the town enough will remedy that.
"Oh, tell her congratulations," A smile danced upon her lips. "I will." she responded politely. He continued. "Who's the lucky guy? What do you think about him?" She somewhat watched Jack, as he rolled his head to one side. "His name's Victor, he owns the local music shop. He's a good guy. Dependable, smart, and he makes Rebecca happy. I wouldn't like him, if he didn't." Gillian answered, with a little chuckle at the end. It was certainly true, if she didn't like him..he would know by now. If not, he'll get quite a few reminders.
When she first met Victor..well, let's just say that's an interesting story to tell. She had gone to wake up Rebecca one morning and um, her sister wasn't in the bed. It was Victor with only a pair of boxer briefs on his body. Rebecca had walked in, about a minute or so later and was a bit confused. Of course, Gilly's face was red and wandered downstairs. When he came down, they somehow ended up joking about it and things were cool from then on. She didn't feel like re-hashing the story to Jack, though. Not the best to be spreading around with people.

"Well that's good," Jack said. He obviously didn't know Rebecca, or Victor, so he couldn't say he had much stake in the whole thing, but it was only decent to find out a bit. Jack realized he had been to the music shop before once or twice. Granted this was the age of itunes so the need was much smaller. Jack tried to remember what Victor might look like, but he hardly knew what Rebecca looked like so he supposed it didn't much matter.
(It made him think about Hadley, as everything seemed to lately. Had her sisters thought the same of whatever bad boyfriend she had mentioned? He wondered if he'd ever get her full story or if she'd stay a mystery forever... A blip in his history.
Jack certainly hoped not.)
He yawned again, running his fingers through his long hair. "Its been great catching up," He said, which was true. Gilly was his friend after all. "But I'm beat, can we maybe grab coffee or something between shifts?" He asked. Jack just wanted to sleep, he could feel his feet tingle and ache from holding him up all day, his back fuzzy feeling, ready to lie down. He knew he'd be better company if he were awake.

"Well that's good," Gillian nodded her head, her smile still touching upon her lips. It was good for her older sister. Rebecca needed a good man in her life and she got one. Of course, after the weird first meeting was over and done with, he and Rebecca had tried their hand at matchmaking. It was a touching gesture and Gilly had gone along with it at first, but things didn't work out in the end. It wasn't any of them, they didn't do anything wrong. It was all her.
Then, Noah's face drifted from the dark recesses of her mind where he belonged. Damn you, Noah, she thought to herself. She did not tell the whole Noah story to Jack, just the basic story line of it. She thought that he was the one for her and he wasn't ready to commit or allow her to trust him fully. He didn't need to know about how she was pregnant with his child and never told him, when she had the miscarriage. She slightly shook her head, as if she could shake his image right out of her mind. A moment came and went. "Its been great catching up," Jack had said, running his fingers through his hair. She nodded. "Yes, it has." she agreed.
"But I'm beat, can we maybe grab coffee or something between shifts?" She grinned, feeling a bit tired herself and she didn't choose to live in one of the rooms at the resort. "Definitely. You still have my cell number, right? Or you can stop by the bar whenever. I'm usually there, unless there's a party or something." she replied, as she stood up. Gillian looked over at Jack. "It's been great seeing you, Jack." she then added, as she reached on over and ruffled his hair slightly.
