James has dark brown, almost black hair that, luckily, is easy to manage. He usually just runs a hand through his hair and it falls messily — though attractively — into place. His eyes are only a shade lighter, with hints of gold from time to time, depending on the light.[/blockquote]
He is tall and skinny; he's not anorexic-looking, or even lanky, really, but he has a small frame. He stands at 5'11 and weighs around 150 lbs, though only thanks to lifeguarding at the resort, which tests him periodically on his fitness to "ensure the best for their well-paying patrons."
Other than the fact that he's alarmingly attractive, if he does say so himself, James doesn't have many distinguishing features. Mostly the constant mischevious look in his eyes and a bit-too-eager smirk. Oh, and the scar over his right eyebrow from crashing into the side of the swimming pool a few too many times. But if you needed to point him out of a police lineup with similarly good-looking individuals, it wouldn't be the easiest task, as he dresses casually and sports no tattoos or piercings — though has been considering a lion tattoo for ages, and would have gotten one by now if money weren't an issue.

"PRANKSTER" what's better than a good prank? Nothing, that's what. No one is safe from the practical jokes of Mr. James O. Brewett, and he enjoys it that way[/blockquote]
"CHARMING" he knows how to sweet-talk people, and he's not afraid to use it. He has a way with words that makes flirting and just generally getting out of trouble easy and, for the most part, painless. In fact, that's probably the reason he's lasted so long in his lifeguarding job --- when a kid loses his footing around the pool and maybe slips and scrapes off just a little bit of his knee (okay, fine, all the skin on his knees and twists his ankle), it tends to be the mothers who get angry with him, and James knows exactly what to say to calm them down and prevent the word from getting back to his boss.
"OBLIVIOUS" okay, so he doesn't remember birthdays or meetings or sometimes the names of acquaintances. And sometimes, when a girl is coming onto him, he'll blurt something out about one of her friends and get slapped. But that happens to everyone ... doesn't it?
"FUNNY" he's hilarious. end of discussion.
"LOYAL" his family and his friends are the most important aspects of his life, hands down. Though many of them still live in his hometown, he makes an effort to keep in touch with them, and calls his mother every week.

James was brought into the world one Halloween afternoon in a small town in Michigan, kicking and screaming, and didn't stop for the whole first half of his life. From a young age, he was a trouble maker, pinching girls in preschool and refusing to learn cursive writing because, even then, he knew it would be useless. His parents were constantly receiving letters home from his teachers, who grew more and more exasperated the more they tried to reign in the wild child. However, James never got into serious trouble, and never hurt anyone (more than the pinching, of course), so apart from shakes of the head and maybe a timeout for a particularly bad note, his parents let him be, trusting that he was a good kid.[/blockquote]
And he was. James made friends easily and though he played pranks, ensured they were harmless and that no one was left feeling bad. That is, until his father passed away when he was 10. After a long battle with cancer, Daniel was gone, and James was expected to step up and grow up in his absense. This only caused James to rebel, and his pranks became more elaborate, and sometimes his peers were victims in his destructive nature.
This rebellion went on for years, his mother finally giving up on trying to control him after James found his way into jail for antagonizing a cop (who had only pulled him over to inform him that his tail light was out). Maggie withdrew and focused her attention on James' younger brother Robbie, and James was left to his own devices.
This freedom was exactly what he needed, as it turns out. The night in jail spooked him, and he got his life together, returning to the carefree child almost effortlessly. Just a few months ago, he had landed the job at the resort and left his family, who were teary-eyed for good reasons this time. He is now closer with them than ever, phoning home every week to check up on his mother, who is still as strong and resilient as ever, and sending emails back and forth with his brother every few days.
He is struggling in Aspen to make ends meet, the cost of living much more than he anticipated, and he's keeping an eye out for a second job so he can possibly afford groceries. However, he's still having the time of his life.
