Today was the day that Hadley would be moving in as his new roommate. Right now she'd have to sleep on the couch, but he figured that once she got settled in with whatever little she had, they could go shopping at Ikea (so they could use their employee discount) to get her some furniture, and then maybe they'd need to buy her some clothes, though Ken tended to wear form fitting things, and sometimes women's jeans so he could share with Hadley a little bit too.
Ken had of course been using the small-ish extra room for boxes and as a make shift pantry for the over flow. So he spent the morning moving around Cali's cat toys and such, as well as stacking the extra boxes in his bedroom (since it was fairly larger). Hadley was homeless though, so a room of her own was still a pretty good deal, even if it was a bit small as a room.
By the time Ken had finished up, it was already 12:30, maybe he should make some lunch? Or would she be here soon? Ken turned on the radio and started going through his mail, bills, a christmas card from his mom, an issue of Home and Decor and an issue of Men's Health with Chris Pine on the cover. These would keep him busy for a while.

Hadley huffed at her reflection in the mirror. She hadn't told Ken exactly how bad her situation was, but when she arrived today in the same clothes she'd met him in carrying a duffel with just her purse and a faded, oversized sweatshirt inside, she knew he would figure it out. Of course, there wasn't much she could do about it, really.
Letting herself out of the room, she made her way to the front desk to tell Jack goodbye. Truthfully, she was going too miss him, and she had no way of knowing if she was actually going to see him again now that she realized that he was both heterosexual and attracted to her, she was feeling more insecure about their interactions. That was due in a large part to the fact that she was also attracted to him. Besides that, she was pretty certain that he was actually a decent guy, and she felt closer to him than she had expected to. She was definitely going to miss him, she realized. As if on cue, she heard his voice around the corner and her stomach flopped. It was probably a good thing that she was moving before she got any more attached than she already was.
After an awkward goodbye, Hadley set out for Ken's apartment. She hadn't realized how long it would take her to find the place without a car and she was shivering by the time she rang the bell. A coat certainly needed to be at the top of her eventual shopping list.

He was almost done reading Men's Health when his buzzer rang and he pushed the button for the intercom. "Come on up Hadley, 7B," He said, unlocking the front door to the building via button. He then opened his door and waited for the elevator to ping, and when it did, he waved her over. Cali strutted into the hall curiously, but was soon distracted by a down feather in the hallway.
Ken realized she was in the same clothes, with no more than a shoulder bag. He realized shopping would be the first thing, she could sleep on the couch for a while. Sleeping inside would be a nice change for her probably. Well, she'd been staying with plaid boy.. Jack, for a while too. In any case, he just saved her from homelessness.
"Honey, we are so going shopping," He said as she reached the door. "Come on in and get a lay of the land, I'm gonna make you a shopping list." He said ushering her and his cat back into the apartment. He looked around the apartment, clean-ish, colorful, and hell it was warm. Hadley would adjust, he wasn't sure how much decorating lee-way he'd have in his house at large.
"So this is your room," He said going over to a small room next to his own bedroom. "I know it isn't much, but its what I've got." It had heat and a little window (granted the view was not exciting)

As soon as the buzzer rang and let her in, Hadley headed for the elevators. She bounced impatiently on the balls of her feet as she waited for the contraption to carry her to Ken's floor. Finally, the doors slid open and Hadley beamed at Ken. She was about to comment on his adorable pet when the cat scampered off. Chuckling, Hadley made her way to the door of the apartment she would be sharing with Ken. All at once, he seemed to realize the situation she was actually in and be announced that they would be going shopping. Shaking her head in amusement, Hadley tried to think of a polite way to decline. It wasn't that she didn't want or need to go. She just couldn't afford it. She'd only been working at ikea long enough to earn one paycheck and she didn't exactly have any money to spare yet. After a moment's hesitation, she decided to simply tell him the truth. "I really can't right now. I've barely got enough of a paycheck for rent at the moment."
Feeling slightly awkward as her admission hung in the air, Hadley followed Ken into the apartment. It was clean and tastefully furnished. The room he showed her was small, but it looked cozy enough, and it would be hers, which was more than she'd let herself hope for in quite a while. All at once, the realization that she was no longer homeless hit her and Hadley felt tears spring to her eyes. "This is great," she assured him. "You're pretty much my hero."

Ken ignored he admission about money and showed her the room, which led to her tearing up and calling him a hero. Ken grinned, and scooped Hadley into a hug. "Course I am." He teased so she wouldn't feel too uncomfortable. He pulled back but kept an arm around her as he gave her the tour of the apartment, showing her the bathroom, kitchen and his room (as the front door was in the living room).
Cali reappeared and Ken scooped her up and held her up to Hadley. "This is Cali," Ken told Hadley before turning to the cat. "You have to play nice, cause you're not my only lady anymore." If Ken didn't know any better, he would say that Cali scowled but she reached out to bat a loose strap on Hadley's duffle bag and Ken took that as a good sign.
Ken put Cali down again and then went back to the concept of shopping. "Well, I don't care what you have now, you'll just owe me. We need to get you some clothes, though you can borrow some of mine too of course," Ken said. She already knew how he dressed and that it would fit her. "Either way we need to get you a tooth brush, and a bed." He said matter-of-factly.
